Bell

This is a photo mix from characters from the shows Sanctuary, Heroes, BSG. The characters were mixed together out of these sci-fi shows to create someone that looks familiar in a science fiction setting.

This is the image of Kai I made as a photomix. This was potentually a clip I could have put in the second act but I didn't think it would work as I wanted the timeline to become more line and colour toward the end.

This is a 3D object created in blender. I was experimenting with extruding, lighting and changing types of material. This object turned into the "sleeper" that would go into Janet's arm to make her sleep, like the modern chloroform.

I had this composition in my head, and drew it onto a canvas I made at college. I then made a quick model of what it would look like in blender. I wanted to see where the program would put the light and see where it would bounce off to give a reference to my painting.
In the painting I originally had the ship facing the other way, but in blender I could move the ship around various places and decided it would look better flipped.

Kai

A character reference I made for 4 different people from sci-fi shows.
This character became Kai from Act 1 and 2. This photomix uses 3 people from SGU, one from lost.

I typed out some random letters, numbers and symbols and dragged them around to create different mathematical looking calculations. This will be used on one of the screens for the video.

I tried to keep the colours in the same area as previous paintings. I need to go over the colour washes again to make them look smoother and cleaner like in other science fiction series. I also added sketched people into the composition to give it more dimension and detail. Also the tables and chair's wouldn't be up if they weren't in use, they all are able to go back into the floor so, when the ship isn't in use there can be large amounts of space, for possible events or storage.

Ship on Platform

Once I created the ship in blender, I thought I would add a platform for it to be launching from. I also created a rough moon plane so the platform could sit somewhere.

Once I built the platform I decided the ship no longer looked the right shape so I played around adjusting the scale hight.

These are a few renders I made playing with different lighting. Moving different lamps around.

Once I was happy with some of the renders, I exported them into partial illusion and rendered some different blasts.

I overlayed these renders from partial illusion in paint shop pro and played around with the layers and opacity. I then brushed over the lighting on the rocks with a pink colour from the fire, and set the layer to pick out only the hue.

These are some renders I made from the computer lab (act 2) in blender.
